IndiGo recently unveiled plans to introduce direct flights from Bengaluru to Mauritius, marking a significant milestone as its 35th international destination. Commencing operations on November 19, 2024, the airline will offer four weekly flights along this fresh route, pioneering the first direct air link between these two regions. This initiative is set to fortify IndiGo’s international footprint, ultimately providing expanded travel alternatives for both leisure and corporate travelers.
With Mauritius being the airline’s 123rd overall destination, IndiGo is committed to boosting connectivity between Bengaluru, often termed as India’s technological epicenter, and Mauritius, a pivotal entry point to East Africa. The addition of this new route is anticipated to not only spur tourism but also catalyze trade, investments, and business alliances between the two nations. Given Mauritius’ prominent domains in healthcare, education, and tourism, it stands as a crucial prospect for Indian investors, thereby bolstering economic relations between India and East Africa.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to include Mauritius, another spectacular beach destination, in our expanding international network. With four weekly flights from Bengaluru, this direct route will curtail travel duration, presenting added convenience for both leisure and business voyagers. The hassle-free visa-on-arrival policies for Indian citizens also render this route promising for our service expansion.”
Passengers can secure flight reservations for the new travel routes through IndiGo’s official website or mobile application. As IndiGo continues to broaden its international network, the airline remains dedicated to offering cost-effective, dependable, and punctual air transportation to diverse destinations across the globe.
