Flic en Flac is a quite and pleasant town on the West coast of Mauritius with beautiful white sand beach and blue lagoon. Flic en Flac derived its name from an Old Dutch phrase “Fried Landt Flaak” that means “Free and Flat Land. The island has one of the best beaches protected by the surrounding coral reefs and South East trade winds by huge mountains. Major coastal development over the past 20 years have made negative effects on the nearby ecosystems such as the filling up of wetlands, leveling off of sand dunes and planting of casuarinas right to the water’s edge.
Nevertheless, this place is still a beauty and one of the popular places for accommodation purposes.
