Louis Sylvio Montaigu, Benjamin Jean Michel Cerveaux and Mohamad Imtheyaz Bundhoo were arrested on the morning of Tuesday, June 3 by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). They are suspected of impersonating commission agents in order to extort money from several people by wrongly convincing them that they were the subject of an official investigation.

During the operation, several mobile phones were seized. Investigators believe that these devices were used to contact the victims and implement the scheme.

Among the suspects, only Montaigu and Cerveaux were released after their hearing at the FCC headquarters in Réduit Triangle. Both strongly reject the charges, saying they never pretended to be FCC agents or tried to get money out of anyone.

On the other hand, Mohamad Imtheyaz Bundhoo was arrested. He is being prosecuted for influence peddling under the Prevention of Corruption Act (POCA). His detention should be made official in the next few hours.
