Bollywood’s resident power couple are now proud parents. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child on Sunday. While the pair has yet to announce a name, fans have now taken on the burden of naming the newborn themselves. Several fans and well-wishers flooded the comment section of the pair’s social media to suggest potential names for DeepVeer’s baby girl.
One popular suggestion for the baby’s name, following the trend of blending celebrity parents’ names (like Virushka or Misha), was “Ravika.” A fan on X shared, “I hope they name her ‘Ridhee’. It incorporates ‘दी’ from Deepika, and ‘र’ from Ranveer, and also connects to Siddhi Vinayak Ganpati since she was born during Ganesh Chaturthi.
A Deepika fan page posted a scene from ‘Bajirao Mastani’ where Deepika’s character gives birth, asking, “Should the baby girl be named Ravika after DeepVeer’s daughter?” In the comments, one fan pointed out, “Ravika means sunrays!” while others filled the post with heart emojis. Another fan suggested, “Ranveer and Deepika should consider naming their daughter Padmavati or Rama, inspired by the Kalki Purana, where Lord Kali is prophesied to marry these two princesses. Plus, Deepika was outstanding in Kalki AD 2898.”
During the promotion of his 2022 film ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, Ranveer was asked whether he preferred a baby boy or a girl. He admitted that he has no preference and is unconcerned about the gender of the baby. “When you go to the temple, they don’t ask you na if you want laadu or sheera. Whatever you get, you have it with whole reverence since it is prasad. So the same logic applies here,” he said.
Ranveer and Deepika welcomed their baby at Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital, according to reports. The couple took to Instagram to share the news, posting a simple image with no caption. The image featured a white background with the words, “Welcome baby girl! 8.9.2024, Deepika & Ranveer.”
