A 53-year-old man drown in the Flic-en-Flac lagoon on the afternoon of Saturday, September 27. He was a security guard residing in Bambous. Apparently he started experiencing difficulties while he was in the water.

Volunteers tried to help him before he was rushed to a private clinic in the area, where he was declared dead.

The autopsy, performed in the evening, attributed the cause of death to asphyxiation due to drowning.

Although the beach is pretty calm but sometimes it can be dangerous, last year a 55 year old British tourist drowned in the same lagoon just hours after landing in Mauritius for a vacation. If you are not very pro in swimming, better to always wear a safety jacket when you enter the water!
