Anti-drug unit of Mauritius has become very busy these days, they have been capturing drug offenders and smugglers frequently.
A collection of information and discreet surveillance in a farm in Mauritius, carried out by bloodhounds of the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit, bore fruit on Monday, June 30. The police arrested Vicky Jhugroo, very close to a farm in Mare-d’Albert.
He had four bags in his possession. By inspecting the contents of these bags, the police’s suspicions were quickly confirmed: they contained 257 cannabis plants, measuring from 14 to 55 cm, which he was preparing to transplant to another place. The market value of the drug is estimated at Rs 1 million.
The suspect made confessions during his interrogation. This security guard, who lives in Quatre-Bornes, has been on a job as a farm supervisor since February. Since starting the job, he started planting cannabis crops in the neighboring fields.
Vicky Jhugroo, who is responsible for a provisional charge of cannabis cultivation, is in police custody.
